The art of AI is to sculpt an intelligent entity using the tools of man. Automata throughout the ages have been constructed using steam and cogs, but modern work is done with computers.
I favour the school of thought known as Non-symbolic AI. This school treats the mind as a complex messy entity that cannot be emulated using strict formalisms. Instead it makes use of the processes of evolution and chaos theory.
